That is a good match colour-wise especially for those weather conditions. It might be worth checking to see if it looks too dark on a bright day but i wouldn't think its too far off if at all.

Superb John, looks about the right shade of colour as I remember them.

That looks really nice, John. I haven't been adding AI versions of planes that no longer fly in the UK, but this Victor may just be the start of a new dawn

Just finished the alternative configurations and paints for the single LOD models.

K2 in the "pre-hemp" colour scheme (RAF Marham):

B2 in 1968 cammoflage scheme. RAF Wittering. Blue Steel missile available as an optional load-out:

B2, early 1960s, RAF Wittering. Anti-flash white with optional Blue Steel.

I'm not sure if the GPU is right for this period - no luck yet with a reference photograph.

B2 in anti-flash white landing, chute, flaps and air brakes deployed:

Next job is to finish the flight dynamics and set the aircraft up as AI. Then it's the LODs........

John

For authenticity the GSE would probably have had a yellow stripe down it at the camo time

Other than that looks great cant wait to have them on the pan :D

That is one impressive AI aircraft model John. I especially like the camo paint schemes. 8) :D

Seeing those pics reminded me of an almost forgotten squadron. Just before I joined the RAF 543 sqn was based at Wyton with, I think, SR2's. B2's converted to carry camera's. If I remember correctly it's task was area mapping rather than single point recce.

It was still one big old PR bird.

That's right Steve, the SR2's were indeed based at Wyton with 543 Sqn in the role you describe. One aircraft could photo-map the whole of the UK in 2 hours apparently.

This is probably a more realistic Houchin for the late 60s:

    That's nice.
On the Houchin's I have a feeling that in the 60's they were all yellow and then they went all green (tonedown) in the 70's. Late 70's we then changed to 'highlighted tonedown' where they were mainly green but with the broad yellow stripe, much like all vehicles at the time.

I believe that at Coningsby '76-78' they were generally green, but I seem to remember the new scheme coming in but at Wattisham '81-84' they were definitely green with yellow band.

Might be worth checking with somebody with experience from that time period.

Superb, prefer the hemp ones myself, but lovely job john. Searching my archives 80's were definately green as Steve has pointed out.

The flight dynamics took longer to get right than usual, but the FS9 models are now complete, including 7 LODs. On the flight line at my test airfield is a:

    K2 in Hemp (Marham)
    K2 in Camo (Marham)
B2 in Camo - Blue Steel (Wittering)
B2 in anti-flash white - Blue Steel (Wittering)
B2 in anti-flash white - no external load (Wittering)
    SR2 (Wyton)
B2 in Camo - no external load (Wittering)

My intention is to produce two sets of 10 individually marked tanker versions (hemp and camo) for my Marham scenery and 1 of each of the remaining models. I'll include paint kits though for users to add additional aircraft if they wish.

I have started the conversion to the alternative FSX-coded models and those shouldn't take long to do. I managed to get hold of the Warpaint book on the Canberra and I am looking forward to making that as a stable mate for the Marham tankers. There are some great paint schemes in the book, most of which I will leave to the re-painters to enjoy.
