Not yet tested, but 11 LODs from 3.800 polys to 48
Where were these guys hiding until now?

... or maybe Martin knows?
The guy doing the modelling appears to be Mehlin Rainer, who has done some quality AI models in the past.

Re: AI-MIG-23
Only seeing this now - you guys go to places I would not expect you to be...
Yes, the guy is Rainer Mehlin, the maker of the FlusiFix tool.
He has released a great MiG-21, Antonov AN-22 and Antonov AN-225 as well.
I have already contacted him to make the MiG available at a more common place.
The Su-22 is being developed as a flyable model, but I have also asked Rainer if he plans to release it as AI.

Re: AI-MIG-23
I've put it "in service" yesterday just for a quick test. I just extracted the files in FS9 and created quick FP.
Good:
Low polys count. 11 LODs from 3.800 polys to 48
Good looking model.
Steerable nose wheel
Ventral fin folding
Folding wings, flaps and ailerons movement look good
Parachute brake
Not good:
It bounces and jumps when changing direction on taxiing
A couple of MF models do not show up (I didn't investigate)
Pilots on ML models are not textured (I didn't investigate)
Ugly afterburner effect
Very long landing run

Re: AI-MIG-23
The fde can always be modded to improve characteristics, the key thing is the model.
So the bouncing can be addressed, so can the landing run and a new effect can always be created so all in all it would seem positive.
On the two MF models that don't show up - Martins Aircraft Editor tool shows that the clean mdl has a radius set to 151m which is why no spot in your AI world would display them. I tried to set it to a normal 9m size and they showed up and are absolutely massive, i.e. biggest planes in the world. It would seem that he has an issue with the scaling on that compilation.
The pilots are a texture mapping thing. It would appear that the ML models don't look for them in the same place as the MF models.
It may be that if/when Martin contacts him with some feedback we may get some updates from him.
I would also like to know if he plans any two-seaters and MiG-27s.

Re: AI-MIG-23
First of all - the model is hidden where it is because it is not yet ready. We are looking at a work-in-progress.
And afterwards he will make the Su-22
I have given all the feedback to Rainer except what is mentioned here. Is there a chance that anybody would lend a helping hand for either air file modding or effect?Firebird wrote:The fde can always be modded to improve characteristics, the key thing is the model.

I have asked On his list are the UB and BN version.Firebird wrote: I would also like to know if he plans any two-seaters and MiG-27s.
