179th Airlift Wing goes back to the future......
179th Airlift Wing goes back to the future......
http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories ... -jobs.html
So to sum this up, just three years after getting rid of their C-130's in exchange for 4 C-27J's, they're are going to give up their 4 C-27J's in exchange for 8 C-130s scrounged from around the USAF and go back to their old mission.
What a miserable failure this whole C-27 thing has been and an even larger waste of tax payer dollars and messing with the lives of the locals.
I'm happy for the 179th and their people and the city of Mansfield but DANG this is all kinds of stupid.

Hmmm, are you sure that our MOD wasn't involved somewhere?

They're not the only one, the 186th ARW in Mississippi is going back to flying KC-135's instead of the C-27J.

On a related subject, had a Maryland ANG C-27 in pattern with me in WV, callsign: Crab 16.

Read in Wiki they're canceling the entire thing.

The whole thing was screwed up from the start.

Yep, and the C-27A's that we bought for the Afghan Air Force.....BadPvtDan wrote:Read in Wiki they're canceling the entire thing.
Those are being scrapped after just a couple years as well because the contractor can't maintain them in airworthy condition.
Billions and billions of dollars wasted, no wonder we're broke.

I'm building a Playscape in the backyard so I'm no better with my money.

Just from what I've heard and observed a lot of the problem lies with the primary contractor of the C-27/G.222.
