RIAT Phantom

Post by delbydoo »

As its THAT weekend, I thought I'd do a very recognisable Phantom for the NMAI F-4M (Early).....I'll let the picture do the talking.
Note that the wing tanks have not got special markings; unfortunately they have been made in such a way as to make the markings extremely untidy, I have therefore elected to leave them off. If you're reading this Mike, it's just an observation, no criticism intended.

Nice one mate.

Never realised that they named a Phantom after Linford Christie though. :smt005

(In my best Dennis Hopper voice) Pop quiz hot shot - how could you tell the difference between the two? The clock is ticking and the Countdown music is nearly over

Aha! A challenge!
As it happens I do know. We will ignore the obvious serial under the wings, but the nose door of 424 was blank, whilst 486 had '486' on it.

I need some more winalot! Interesting though, do you know if both machines had the mini Welsh flag on the tail?

Dinga - I'm more of a Perry man (he wishes)......but I see where you're coming from

As far as I can remember they were identical apart from the nose door, but I wouldn't like to be 100%, even down to the Welsh flag. Well they were painted in Saint so you have to give them that. I assume that the door was an oversight.
The idea being that if one went tango uniform nobody would notice, hence why there was no serial on the fuselage.

Rachel Riley/Suzi Perry? Ah decisions decisions! Did you see the RAF news photos of Suzi in the Typhoon to open RIAT-very nice! Back on topic - a Google image search shows both with Welsh flags - I did have a look at this as part of the Challenge then gave up

Please inform where to find.
