KNJK problem...

Post by Jive1 »

Hey!
Good day!
I have a problem with KBJK. Whatever I try, I can't open KNJK airport. I like the MAIW sceneries and AI-sets, but here at KNJK I was never able up to now to open the airport: each time I have a crash of FS9.1.
I'm now trying to find aout what could be the origin why that is,
Does anybody have experienced similar problme at KNJK?

Hey!
I'm sorry, I wrongly told above that the problem is with KBJK, but that is not correct.
The problem occurs with KNJK El Czntro.
Only when I disable two files
- El_Centro_Photo_VTPP.BGL, and
- El_Centro_Photo1_VTPH.BGL
then I can open the airport.
When I don't disable these two files, I cannot open the airport.
But, when I disable them, and the airport is open, I can see an error in the elevation of the ofjects...
I cannot give more axplanation for this moment, because I don't understand what happens, and I've never before seen such a thing.
Can anybody tell me what to do now? Please.

If you look at the real height of the real KNJK is 48 feet below sea level. The AI engine will not allow aircraft to be below sea level.
So the scenery sets the height of the base to zero feet.

All the scenery has to be installed, any pieces left out will cause problems. The normal reason for the crash is that you are missing at least one bmp texture.

Try a manual install of the Gladiators package again. Install it to a temporary location and check to see that you got all the files copied across. Quite often people miss the files from the \Scenery\World\Texture folder from the package.

See if this helps.

However....
Good morning Firebird
Indeed, the airport is 43 ft below sea level, and the Afcad of the El Centro scenery does not say that, but it sets the airport at 0 ft. And that is wrong.
I modified the whole thing by setting the elevation of the El Centro Afcad at -43 ft, similar to the default Afcad of MS, and at the same time I made a flatten file at -43 ft as well,
Flatten.0=-43.0,N32 49.83,W115 41.47,N32 49.83,W115 39.35,N32 48.66,W115 39.35,N32 48.66,W115 41.47 ( made with Flattex ).
and I put that in the scenery.cfg file under the corresponding [Area.052] of the scenety, and everything is OK now, even when the two mentioned files are not active. When I make these active in this situation, my FS9.1 crashes again.
So, I have been breaking my head on this problem, but at last I think I got a logic solution.

Hey! Firebird,
I have forgotten to inform as well....
If one flattens the situation like I did, one needs not to modify the original default Afcad AP917200.BGL from MS.
In fact it is easier to work my way than what MAIW did.

It is good if you have managed to work out a solution for yourself.

Just check that the AI traffic works for you. We could not get it working for a below sea level airfield. I can't remember fully but i think the problem was aircraft landing.

Yes, it works!
Hey Firebird, the AI works fine even landing and taking off.
Thanks for your help anyway!
