Looking for C-9 paints

Post by Joseph29 »

Does anyone know where I can find repaints (and maybe plans) for the C-9's based at Cherry Point MCAS (VMR-1)? According to Scramble they have 2 of them 161529 and 161530.

There were two included with the veteran USN_USMC_Airliners package, 160046 and 160047. The package has started to be replaced with smaller separates but that series stalled some time ago.

I know of no others.

Do you know which package those paints are in? I downloaded all 4 USN_USMC_Airliners packages and 160046 and 160047 are not in any of them.

It looks like the original package was removed BEFORE we had the completion of its replacement project to at least a beta level.

So unless somebody has a download of the original maiw_usn_usmc_airliners.zip it may be lost.

I still have the original on one of my CDs. I'll look for it and upload it.

EDIT: Well that didn't take long. Found it !. Up loading it and let the moderators do with it as they may.

It's too big to post other ways.

I did a couple quick and dirty repaints for Alamedas C-9's they had back in the day. It would be awesome to have a retro C-9 package all by itself. I have know idea what any of the serials were, the duty stations, or what kinds of schedules and flight plans they kept. Would anyone here have that info? I know North Island, Alameda, and Whidbey had C-9's, but that's about all I know! -Woog

Jim,
I can confirm that the package you placed in your dropbox is indeed the original package with the VMR-1 schemes included.

Woog,
You might want to try that package. It also includes schemes for the USN C-9 birds at that time as well.

Hey Steve,

Thanks for that. I downloaded and Installed, which gave me a good start. I have to assume that all the C-40 Units were once C-9 operators. Those are an easy Flight Plan reassign. I still need to do some more research though as 20 years ago we had more airbases, and more units. Also looking for serials for those assigned jets. Thanks for the Heads up though. -Woog

No problem. The key thing here, and I hope that it isn't too late to say this, that you make a temporary installation and manually copy any relevant files you want across.

You should always do this with older packs to avoid going over updated acfads.

Yes, That is good info. I generally keep my Ai models and AFCADS completely seperate to do manual installs. I am an FSX/P3d user, so I have had to get creative with my wide assortment of scenery options. I am really curious to see if the MAIW aircraft will work in the inbound 64bit version of P3d...........

I downloaded that USN_USMC_Airliners package tank you. It has VR-46, are they still around? And are they still around are they still flying C-9's? I looked up VR-46 on scramble and it didn't come up with anything.

The units have changed a bit since that pack was released which is why there are updated packs (although not yet completed).

The USN retired its last C-9 a few years ago.

Ok thanks. I will just install the VMR-1 paints then. Hopefully one day the other stuff in that package will be updated.

VR-46 moved from Dobbins to Ft. Worth JRB then de-established in 2012.

I snagged this little souvenir off of them before they shut down:
