Only reference is "The #C130J air transport squadron "Rhein/Rhin""
They do have a funky new building tho'

Well that rolls off the tongue doesn't it? Cheers, Jim.
Taking into account I guess that I should thank John in advance for the KC-130J-30. That is a bit of a mouthful in itself.

Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
There seems to be some confusion throughout the various website reporting this new squadron.
It looks more likely that the tankers will be KC-130J, so John won't have to create anything new!!!
I'm going to create the package assuming they are KC-130Js and with assumed serials, these I'll change as necessary in the future.

Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
Well I did find an official document from the presentation document that said that they were KC-130J-30s, but I will go and double check.
Double-checked and all 10x a/c are J-30s. Link is here :- https://eda.europa.eu/docs/default-sour ... de-maa.pdf
It might be worth getting somebody that has access to Lockheed lists to check.

Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
Hello all,
For this new squadron, you'll find 10 aircraft, 4 under french colors and 6 with german markings.
The 4 french are the already available ones in the french pack for John Young model with 2 C-130J-30 and 2 KC-130J.
The 6 german will be divided in 3 C-130J-30 like this first one and 3 KC-130J (not-30). I just don't kow if the KC will have the same improvements (like the systems under the nose...).
Hope this helps,
Thanks for the repaints and new model
Fred

This is how confusion reigns.
Now the presentation was in 2018 so it could be that the order(s) got changed but again if somebody has access to the production list info it would be best to confirm.

'Flight' suggests that Fred is correct: https://www.flightglobal.com/dubai-2021 ... 65.article
I'm not aware of there being any KC130J-30s. The reason for that, I believe, is that the fuselage extension means the clearance, particularly for helicopters in contact, is reduced to an unacceptable number. C-130 tankers (apart from the UK variety) don't have centreline hoses, so the wing position is affected by the fuselage length. There will be a significant difference in airflow around the aircraft which would need specific type testing, and I don't believe that has been carried out. So I am quite sure the KC-130Js for this application are 'shorties'.

If checks have been done and people are happy that the info being is correct then I am happy.

Obviously couldn't decide if the sign should be French or German so go for English instead

Thank you for these and the new model was a nice surprise. I am seeing many -130 operators use this under nose FLIR mount now.

Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
Quick question:
is the new model "Model.JYAI_C-130J_30_Germany_FSX" ok to stick in with my other european JYAI C-13-J-30's
Have already done it and cannot find any problems - But just in case !!
RNoAF P-8's look great too

Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
Yes, it should be fine Pete. I used the RAF C-130J-30 as the base because it has the refuelling probe. I removed the ECM blisters and top radome and added the FLIR ball from the coastguard model. I missed the slime lights unfortunately, which are not on the RAF model.

Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
Now it goes without saying that you can stick with the original model but my guess is that now you know it is there and that there is a model that has this feature you will probably want to use it.
It is in use on other ones as well. I quickly found a pic of an RNZAF J-30 that uses it and an article that the IAF will be equipped with it. Whether any others will come with it or will be retrofitted with it I do not know.

Thanks for the affirmation John. Just needed the reassurance that I had not introduced another problem into my sim.John Young wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 15:17 Yes, it should be fine Pete. Re: New German/French C-130J Squadron
I continued to dig a bit more on the unit designation(s) and found in a couple of places that it was officially called :-
'l’Escadron franco-allemand de transport tactique' which gets abbreviated to EFATT.
Hope it helps people like me that like to have sqn designations in the names.
