Big problem with MAIW Nellis Misc Objects library for KLSV

After spending a week trying to convert the MAIW KLSV for P3D (with a bit of help from f4nutter) , there seems to be an issue I found with MAIW_Nellis_Misc_Objects_Library.bgl. No matter what I do, even convert textures, fix the materials via MCX's material editor, and all sort, they still show black. Any help on this at all, scenery devs?

All of these black objects are from MAIW_Nellis_Misc_Objects_Library.bgl file. Even I use the original unconverted textures. They won't work no matter what. Other converted library bgls for Nellis do work, like the trees, hangars, and photo background, just except for the Misc Objects library. Any help, tips, or any fix on this at all? I need help.

MCX has the cool feature to look for missing textures. It is under tools if I remember correctly. load your converted BGL there and see if MCX reports missing textures.

Do these objects appear textured when you load the library into MCX?

I can confirm that the library appears correctly in P3Dv5.4.

They appear fine when I load it in MCX, especially the one that Ray sent me in the PMs when I was trying to convert KLSV on my own.

But Ingame, they show up black even if DDS-converted or original bmp textures. Other libraries show fine both in MCX and sim. It's the nellis misc objects library that is really giving me headache about.

And you have copied over the converted textures to the texture folder where your library is located?

I already did that, replacing the bmps with the dds-converted ones that I made. But no joy. Even I tried putting alpha channels on the crucial ones like the misc towers, buildings, etc for the misc objects library. No joy at all.

Something in the model or library is calling the wrong texture location. How are your add-on airfields installed into P3D?

I basically coralled some of my converted MAIW Airbases under one huge addon folder using the good ol addon xml formatting, including my traffic assets, and the global scenery library. Others work fine, except for Nellis because of the misc objects library. I double-checked, even triple-checked via MCX, seems to be nothing is calling the wrong textures.

Like I don't get it. Other standalone scenery libraries for Nellis worked on my end, when the Nellis Misc Objects Library couldn't

Check that there’s only one Nellis on your system - and only one Nellis Misc Objects Library.

I have had only limited experience with Library conversions and that was FSX to FS9.
What I found was that as well as converting the actual grphic files to .bmp I also had to amend each mdl in the library to look for a bmp texture rather than a dds texture.

Can you confirm that you have down the equivalent for your needs.

Yes, I did. Even that I have the P3D version of the MAIW Nellis Misc Objects library bgl that f4nutter gave me while helping me to fix KLSV, the objects still how black. If necessary, here's the list of texture names from that BGL that are causing such issues:

Well the obvious thing is that the textures should be .dds textures.

I think that you will need to convert them to dds files and alter the individual mdls in the library to look for dds textures.

What I would do to prove the point is find an obvious one that is currently black and convert that and alter the mdl requirements to dds textures.
So in effect alter one to test for effect before you go through all of them.

That's not necessary, Steve. On conversion to P3D format, in my experience, the models are agnostic about the texture files; they'll use bmp or dds as available. Only the title is important. This holds true up to and including P3Dv6. DDS textures are more efficient according to some, but they are not compulsory unless you're using PBR textures. None of the John Stinstrom/MAIW FS9-generation sceneries do that.

To the OP, at the moment I have no clue as to why you are experiencing this specific problem. Without going through all your files, I'm having to guess! However, this is how I'd tackle the investigation from now:

1. delete all reference to the MAIW KLSV entirely from the sim. If there's any reference to KLSV in your xml of cfg files, remove it. Take the MAIW KLSV scenery and texture files and place them in somewhere safe but corralled.

2. Restart the computer, then run P3D and confirm that only the stock KLSV appears.

3. Within the simulator, add the corralled location to the active sceneries in exactly the same way as you used to do in FS9/FSX, ie NOT using the xml system. Restart the sim and see what you get. If it works, you have the choice of leaving it where it is or reinstating an xml link. If it doesn't work, I'd replace all of the KLSV file with new downloads. I can probably supply all of them in P3Dv4.4 format if you need them.

Ah! Looking through my libraries, your texture names are the FS9 textures (they're all bmps as well). That would be ok if you're using your own conversion of the airfield from the original FS9 files, but if you're mixing these textures with the MAIW Matrix P3Dv4 model conversions THEY WON'T WORK! Try the attached...

After using the files provided, I reconstructed my entire addon folder, organized them in the same way that ORBX central does. I load/add the MAIW Global Scenery Library and traffic assets first, quit the sim, then add the Airbases next, and voila! Nellis Finally Works now.

The simple fix for me besides the texture conversion is load the global scenery library first before adding in the airbase scenery conversions. Still, thanks for all your help to get me through in fixing this issue with KLSV once and for all.

I'm having a similar issue after installing the "Nellis P3D" files, Ive triple checked i don't have duplicates anywhere and yet I cant get the hangars and shelters to show.

Any suggestions?
