Right all done .

Steve ,there are fs9 textures and unit folders in your folder.

Kevin ,32BIT Textures in your folder ,,

The paints look good but the after the Alpha channel was added there dose not seem tobe any reflections on the canopies and engine tail pipe..

I tried some different combination of light to dark on both the main texture plus on the alpha but no joy ..

Seems strange to me .Maybe you guys might know something .

Is it do with the model has been converted back to FS9 .

I do have some early models that were madefor FS9 and those work fine .

Anyway have a look at the texture ..

Thanks for that, Mark.

I will ask Kev if he has any experience on the canopies and tail pipes. Not having P3D I am of course not aware of them, but I am hoping that Kev knows about that. It maybe that I would have to alter a colour parm for each model.

As long as the alpha is there the canopies should show reflectivity.
In P3D and FS9.

Wonder if there is something in the conversion process that needs checked???

[edit] When you were figuring out the conversion process did you notice a lack of reflectivity? Or is it something new?

Got the paints file eventually using WINSCP.

Are you sure you are including the alpha for FS9?
Just that the ones you sent me might not have, or they have a white alpha.

I don't know much about paints for models but I do know that FS9 can't have white alphas. If they are white the aircraft become shiny, at least with what I have found with other models.

I will test one in game to see what I get.

[UPDATE]
Ignore what I just said, I am an idiot. I got it the wrong way round it is a black alpha that causes big problems in FS9.

Kevin .Yep all the channels have a alpha included in the texture.If I look at the texture in a texture viewer. You can see that there is a alpha channel included.I had to add the alpha to the original textures.
Seems very strange that there is no reflectiveness on the texture.

Another thing Kevin .On the 32bit textures I sent you there is NO alpha on the textures .I didn't add because I wasn't sure how you was going to use them for the other SIM platforms.The alpha is in the file as well as the weapons textures.

In these I have sent you a several of the same type but repainted with different colours on the ordinance and tanks .Like this you can mixer match.This has been done for Block 30 and 40 air frames.Sorry for the confusion over the alphers layers.

Is there an option during conversion?

In the FSDS model - the part is setup with a material

This is converted into a 'separate' material entry for transparent parts in MCX when going to P3D.

I wonder if something is being left behind during the conversion?

Might be worth looking at the 4 settings here (before conversion back to FS9), sometimes MCX resets them..
There should only be that one texture definition, it will change depending on the model obviously.

Check post 145...
https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threa ... ost-922198

Might have to add it as specular texture also to get reflectivity.

I've found a aircraft with a working alpha channel with eflectiveness on the texture ..

Have a look at the.

[fltsim.0]
title=MAIW_WSMG_F-16D_IDF MANAT 020
sim=MAIW_WSMG_F-16_Fighting_Falcon_AI_ONLY
model=F16D30_BARAK_MANAT_W30
texture=020
atc_airline=TIGER
atc_parking_types=MIL_COMBAT
atc_parking_codes=EAF
ui_manufacturer=MAIW WSMG
ui_type=Lockheed Martin F-16D Block 30
ui_variation=F-16D IDF MANAT 020
description=MAIW WSMG F-16 Fighting Falcon (Viper) - FOR AI Use ONLY

in the IDF F-16DI MANAT UNIT FOLDER.

This seems to be the only that works as it should.

Kev, there is a material editor in MCX and I can see two textures.

I did not alter them as part of the conversion but I will check to see what the originals have and test one conversion to see what it has an alter it to exactly the same. The Emissive and Specular parms only allow for RGB colors. Diffuse is the on ly one to allow for a 4th.

Kev,
Read your posts but the screenies show the P3D options. There are far less for FS9.

Now it seems that MCX has changed the colour settings during the change. I have started my testing by altering the settings to match the P3D ones.

Mark, I will also look at 020 to see why that looks better to you.
