No, 4553 polys and no LODS.

MACC,
You've been around here long enough now to know the benefits of LODs for AI models. Any chance that you can influence the modelers over at UKMIL, to indulge in this activity?

I'm afraid i have no understandings(other than it helps framerates) about LODS, the two models were made by people who use FSDS, which dosent help LODs i think.

ALL active AI modelers here use FSDS, it does support LODs, I assure you...

Send them our way to talk to the modelers. The more the merrier.

I have seen a first example of LOD usage at an UKMil AI aircraft (one of those not freely available).

So I guess the importance of LODs is rated the same like it is over here.

Cheers,
Martin

Yeah, in all seriousness, MACC our modelers would be happy to help them. After I would love a flight line of Nimrods but not at the fps cost.

I am not a modeler myself, but I get the point of it. Simply put if a model has only 1 LOD, like the Nimrod, my FS9 will have to render 4k+ polygons for each model no matter the distance. So if you had a flightline of say 10, that would be 40k+ polys per frame no matter whether you were 100' or 10 miles away. Now at 10 miles, you won't even see a dot but it is still being rendered.
The idea of multi-LODs is that the further you are away from the model, the simpler the model and therefore less polys have to be rendered by your graphics card, therefore more fps for FS9.

Ah! At last an explanation of LODs that I can understand. Thanks for that, Steve.

ok thanks, but i will say i had a very low range graphics card before which handled them, but i see what you mean and we will try LODding our aircraft more.

MACC, that is much appreciated and anticipated. You will be surprised how much difference it will make to your display.

i know, it worked really well with my red flag, i have a 256 DDR3 GFX card, at 1680x1050 and still facing the flightline at nellis i get 20-30.
