National news just interrupted the basketball game to say that "50 to 100" Tomahawk cruise missiles have been launched by the US into Libya.

Gonna be a long night.

The Pentagon declared that the operation "Odissey at dawn", aimed at destroying the anti aircraft defence, is started. UK, France, Italy and Canada are participating.

I'm just happy to see the international community take the lead on this. Finally......finally the rest of the world is willing to stand up and smack down these rogue leaders.

So now what happens in Bahrain and other places??

I guess the rest of the world has been waiting for the UN to take its responsibility. We have F-16's deployed in Greece on a "training mission" for a week now but couldn't operate without a UN resolution. They're being prepared to operate from LGRX Araxos starting on Monday.

Pentagon briefing under way. 110 Tomahawk TLAM's launched by US surface warships, US submarines and one British submarine. Mix of the older and newer tatical Tomahawks. Newer TLAM's have standoff capability but it was not used with this initial strike package.

I have to say that I fear this is going to get really messy AFTER Gadhafi is gone......

Lots of different "tribes" that make up the Libyan population.

I hope that little pecker Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is paying close attention to this.

Of course this also sets a bad precedent IMO. Any nation that wants regime change can now start a civil war and expect the international community to step in and help them out.

Iran.....
Saudia Arabia.....
Qatar.....
Bahrain.....
Syria.....
Jordan.....

What I wanna know is this: are the Libyan troops who are fighting on Gadafi's side, are they fighting for him because they are "with him" or because they don't want to be executed like some of their own countrymen who have refused to attack their own people???

that's a long freaking flight non-stop, kudos for being able to to weapons on target after all that. I wonder if the Raptor will finally get its combat combat debut before this is all over, seems like its the perfect opportunity to prove that its more than just a really cool airshow performer..guess we'll see.
