The Bbc are reporting it as a Rafale shooting down a G-2 Galeb.

Puts them one up on the RAF who still haven't shot anything down since WWII (apart from their own Jaguar over Germany in the 80s)

Don't know in Korea, at Falklands may be it was Royal Navy.

Strictly speaking, all air-to-air kills were carried out by Royal Navy harriers BUT Flt. Lt. Dave Morgan DSC, who was actually flying Sea Harriers on secondment to the Fleet Air Arm during the conflict, got four so I guess that puts four in for the Royal Air Force since 1945! BTW if anyone fancies to claim that he was Navy, have a look here - and it explains all

Like Mike says, the Rafale against Galeb is hardly fair, but at the same time, stick your nose in the air where it's not wanted, you're gonna get punched!! (Did you see how I bought it back on topic there?)

The last Proper RAF kill that I know of was in the opening stages of the Arab Israeli war in 1947 using Spitfires. There have been a few possibles and rumours though.

The UK kill in Korea was again the RN. Credited to Lt. Carmichael in a Sea Fury. The first MiG kill by a prop job.

The RAF has officially only two kills two Spit on Spit actions (v Egyptians in 1948). There was an unofficial kill in what is officially known as the "Indonesian confrontation". It's not official but an Indonesian C-130 did crash and the Javelin that was sent up did come back with one less firestreak than when it took off. Nuff said.

Also very unofficial stories using words like 'Oman' 'Hunter' 'Yemeni' and 'Mig-17' abound. Not least because the RAF were forbidden from chasing the attackers back across the border. The alleged existence of alleged gun camera film is ... well ... alleged, as no MiG-17 was shot down in Oman.

However RAF pilots did shoot down quite a few in the Falklands in RN aircraft and RAF exchange pilots did get 6 kills in Sabres in Korea.

We try not to mention the accidental Phantom 1 Jaguar 0, or even the deliberate Lightning 1 Harrier 0.

A Downing Street spokesman said the UAE's decision to contribute 12 planes was "evidence of the real and tangible Arab role" in enforcing the no-fly zone.

I don't think so, I cann't understand very well what they say, but here was clear. "Military helicopter on rescue mission". Not necessarly bound to the missions for the NFZ, could be something bound to the dozens of boats full of emigrants arriving to Lampedusa from Tunisia.
Some other comunications follows, but I didn't understand.
